If you haven't had an opportunity to read Daniel Pink's book
Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us
(click on the title to find it at Amazon), I highly recommend you do so. As the private, business community works feverishly to push schools to pay educators like they do, I believe you will find from Pink's research that they should look more at how educators are compensated. To me, it seems difficult to motivate people with money who are in the profession to change lives. Now, that is something to get motivated about! Below are two videos worth watching. The first is a TED video of Pink providing a key note on his hypothesis. The second is a video from RSA Animate providing a fun visual of a Pink talk on what motivates others.
